The plans to produce a lasting
legacy of the Darwin bicentenary have taken another step
forward this week when three short-listed designs when on
display in the Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury.
This was a chance for the public to
see the proposals before the judging panel selects the winning
design.
The designs have been available to view
all this week with the final viewings tomorrow Saturday
26th April.
As well as reflecting Darwin's ideas,
the teams have been asked to produce a design that highlights
Shropshire's diverse geological story. Geology was Darwin’s
first formal science and Shropshire has rocks from ten of
the twelve geological periods.
The selected design will be installed
on Mardol Quay Gardens alongside the Welsh Bridge in time
for Darwin’s birthday on 12th February 2009.
